Isabella Island, our destination for the day, has an incredible volcanic past with five and a half shield volcanos making up the largest island in Galapagos. The morning was spent at Urbina Bay with a casual walk encountering Galapagos giant tortoises and land iguanas among a volcanically uplifted area.

The afternoon brought us to Tagus Cove with its drastic volcanic cone-lined coast. We walked in Charles Darwin’s footsteps as we landed and hiked to the surrounding ridge which Darwin visited in 1835. Exploring the coast kayaking, Zodiac riding, and snorkeling allowed us great views of Pacific green sea turtles, flightless cormorants, and Galapagos penguins.
