Santa Cruz is the second largest island in the Galapagos archipelago, and it is where we find the main headquarters of the Charles Darwin Research Station and Galapagos National Park. After breakfast, we visited the Galapagos Giant Tortoise Breeding Center and the Charles Darwin Research Station.
Later in the morning, we went to the highlands region, where we walked through a couple of local farms and a school where they are developing an innovative education system.
After lunch, we had another opportunity to see Galapagos giant tortoises in the wild; these large reptiles are unique to the Galapagos and were actively feeding and bathing in volcanic mud.
