The first day of our epic voyage through the northeast Atlantic was a visit to Hellmobotn, a beautiful bay with stunning views of the Norwegian fjords and the massive waterfalls that currently shape these hard rocks. Guests enjoyed various hikes and walks accompanied by a light drizzle, which made the plants seem even more vibrant and the polished fjord walls shimmer. The undersea team explored the depths of the fjord down to a depth of 250 feet/80 meters using the ship’s ROV (remotely operated vehicle) to access areas very few humans get to see.
After dinner we were treated to a surprise transit of one of Norway’s most picturesque fjords, Trollfjord. National Geographic Endurance transited through the narrow entrance and all were on decks, on balconies, or on the bridge to take in the spectacular sights.
