National Geographic Venture entered Glacier Bay National Park in the early morning hours with perfect Alaska weather, an overcast sky with a liquid sunshine drizzle.
The action began immediately when we saw bears on the shoreline, a breaching humpback, and sea otters swimming in every direction. When they were not on the bow, the Global Explorers spent the day working on obtaining their junior ranger badges, even enlisting Captain Tom to answer some questions.
The wildlife continued to shine at Gloomy Knob where we saw mountain goats perched precariously on the steep mountainside. South Marble was the cherry on the cake for the day with hordes of Stellar sea lions hauled out and tufted puffins flying around the ship.
After dinner, an impromptu walk around Bartlett Cove was the best way to end an incredible day in Glacier Bay National Park.
