Normal words can't even begin to communicate the wonders we saw today. To say that our experiences were "rare" or "special" or even "awesome" would be an injustice. Those of us upon the ship KNOW what we saw. For those who were not, a haiku hint...

Steep rocky walls
Defined our daylong path
Wonders awaited.

Dense blue ice calving
Repeatedly before us
A glacier recedes.

Rare hawks on the wing
Over seal-filled waters
Caught our interest.

A barnacled beach
Forming a tidal table
Was a bear's buffet.

Calm marine waters
Reflecting a salmon sunset
Added to our peace.

The evening light shone
Softly upon flashing flukes
Of whales swimming by.

In the calm of night
Auroral light did shimmer
A perfect day ends.
