Bartolome & Santiago Islands

It is an extreme mix of feelings during the visit of this two islands. On one side we observed the beauty of geology, with parasitic cones, lava tubes and recent lava flows. At the time that they are formed, everything that is alive basically gets destroyed in the surrounding area.

On the other side, as soon as we jump into the water, the contrast of colors explodes before our eyes, and the complexity of the underwater world becomes clear. It makes everyone think about the different worlds existing beside each other with extreme biodiversity and landscape, transporting our minds to the high level of admiration and understanding to be capable of enjoying the underwater world, and the one above the surface. At the same time our anxiety to have a better knowledge of all kind of habitats increases. Or, I should say that, walking on lava fields watching pioneer plants like the cacti, and one hour later to be able to swim with penguins is so hard to digest, but it gives us the chance to have an experience of our lifetime.
