Genovesa Island

Today we visited the island of one million sea birds; frigatebirds, boobies and gulls were soaring, and flapping their wings just above the landing site. Later in the morning we went out snorkeling and we saw a lot of tropical fish like these king angels, moorish idols and yellow-tailed surgeonfish. The king angels are beautiful, disc-shaped fish and have similar habits and a similar body shape to butterfly fish. They swim slowly and gracefully and generally grow to more than one foot in length. These are the only members of the angelfish family (Pomacanthidae) found in Galapagos. Today’s water temperature was a comfortable 71º F.
