Bartolome and San Salvador Islands

It was a day with a lovely sunrise and a lovely evening, and in between, all the possible range of colours and beauty. You can see it in the smiling faces of our guests this week, adventurers who came on board National Geographic Polaris seven days ago, sure of having an amazing experience. However, this trip has topped everybody’s expectations, from Orcas to penguins in the water, from orchids to flowering cactus, from finches to albatrosses, we have seen it all, and even more.

We have enjoyed the company of the executive director of the Charles Darwin Research Station for the last four years, Dr. Graham Watkins. He has shared his knowledge and love for the islands, and also has told us about The Other Side of the Coin, which is the name of his book to be published in a few days.

Bartolome in the morning, San Salvador in the afternoon, a blue rich ocean and a clear sky! Our hearts are filled with beauty. We have made new friends and are ready to go back now, but with Galápagos forever in our hearts.
