Bartolome & Santiago Island
Our day started with an early morning outing to hike up to the summit of Bartolomé Island. We walked up towards the crest on a wooden stairway built by the Galápagos National Park Service to avoid the erosion of the area. Our naturalists displayed their knowledge about the geological features of the area.
Once on board our expedition leader briefed us on snorkelling activities and naturalists helped us to gear up with the necessary elements to start with this first underwater exploration.
The afternoon was highlighted with marvellous shoreline wildlife at Puerto Egas. We had a nice easy stroll in the company of great blues herons, colourful oystercatchers, bright yellow warblers, Galápagos sea lions, large marine iguanas, and lava lizards, among other amazing creatures.
Some of our guests even snorkelled again in the afternoon at the black beach in Puerto Egas! This was a wonderful first full day in paradise.
