Goodbye Antarctica!
On this journey's last day in the Antarctic we made several stops beginning with Deception Island, then Yankee Harbor and Fort Point on Greenwich Island, all a part of the South Shetland Islands archipelago. A chinstrap penguin colony at Fort Point was our last close-up look at penguins, and this baby chinstrap seems to be saying: "See you next year!" Indeed, if all goes well for this little one over the course of the austral summer and winter we just may see him in 2001.
Of course, guests on the Caledonian Star's voyages later this season may see him first!
