Our expedition in the Peruvian Upper Amazon in the Pacaya Samiria Reserve started with a skiff ride around a beautiful oxbow lake, Clavero Lake. We marveled at the beauty of the location and various wildlife sightings. We spotted several bird species and had the chance to see many local fishermen who were working hard to take advantage of the low levels of the rivers.
Late in the afternoon, we explored the banks of the Ucayali River by skiff near an area known as Supay. As the afternoon progressed, a rather overcast sky provided relief from the strong heat we felt earlier. We spotted numerous saddle-back tamarin monkeys, parrots, and birds of prey. We gathered wonderful memories and experiences on the first full day of our expedition aboard the Delfin II, our home away from home this week.
