Two-Day City & Culinary Experience
Whet your appetite for adventure with a taste of Portland and the Willamette Valley Wine Country. Take in spectacular views of volcanic peaks on a full-day wine tour with visits to multiple wineries, each representing distinctive elements of the region. Explore Portland’s coffee shops, boutiques, and diverse culinary scene independently, and discover why Money magazine called Portland the “Best Big City” in North America on a guided tour of its must-see highlights.
Day 1 - Portland and Willamette Valley

This morning, meet your guide in the lobby of the Marriott Waterfront Hotel to enjoy some of Oregon’s stunning scenery and acclaimed boutique wineries with a private tour and tastings. Just outside Portland lies the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Park system, Silver Falls State Park. Begin your day with a short hike to visit to one of many stunning waterfalls before continuing to the Willamette Valley Wine Country. Award winning wineries such as Winter's Hill, Durant, Stoller, Rex Hill, Fox Farm, and Laurel Ridge are among the 400 wineries and tasting rooms that have contributed to the prestige of the region. On our full-day tour we’ll visit three of these wineries, each representing distinctive elements of the Willamette Valley, from biodynamic farming practices to unique single-block and single-close wines. We’ll tour the wineries and taste fine wine, while learning about the art of viticulture from an expert guide and sometimes the winemakers themselves.

A locally sourced lunch is included. In the evening, explore Portland's restaurant scene independently. With so many well-regarded restaurants, the real challenge will be narrowing it down to one. (B,L)

Day 2 - Portland

Portland, also known as The City of Roses, Stumptown, Bridgetown, Rip City, Little Beirut, or Beertown, is Oregon's most populous city, and the third most populous city in the Pacific Northwest. Whether in the Cultural District downtown or a renovated warehouse in the trendy Pearl District, it’s easy to see why Money magazine called Portland the “Best Big City” in North America. Rich in Northwest arts and heritage, the city and region are also noted for strong land-use planning, excellent public transportation and a progressive regional-government.

Join us for a guided tour of the city’s must-see highlights. We’ll start by taking in the iconic views of Portland and surrounding volcanic peaks at the historic Pittock Mansion. Next, we explore the neighborhoods and Portland’s four main quadrants: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest. Each quadrant has its own distinct feel and unique attractions including art galleries, boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and performance spaces. We will also visit at least two of the following parks: Washington Park, Rocky Butte, McCall Waterfront Park. Your naturalist guide will bring the parks alive by interpreting history, flora and fauna, and spotting birds. Portland is known for its diverse culinary offerings. This afternoon partake in the city’s legendary food cart scene—choose from hundreds throughout the city. Lunch is not included. Our tour culminates at the dock in time for boarding. (B)
