Tracy Arm-Fords Terror is an immaculate landscape just south of Juneau that is a Wilderness Area with a capital “W.” This incredibly diverse space has been given the highest level of protection that the United States can offer; meaning that no persons can affect this land above the high tide line. Therefore, our expedition leader and bridge team came up with a plan for our guests to embark on Zodiac excursions toward the face of the glacier at the end of Tracy Arm.
South Sawyer Glacier gave us outstanding views of nature: enormous and sheer cliff walls on either side, lush and green forests in ancient glacial valleys, and wildlife out the wazoo! We observed harbor seal mothers and their pups among the icebergs, mountain goat families hiking along the cliff walls, and bald eagles flying high above the clouds. A truly remarkable day to explore Southeast Alaska.
