Today was our first day cruising around the eastern coast of Spitsbergen. The crew and many guests were at the bridge watching with excitement as the ice began breaking and we searched for polar bears. We searched hard, but didn’t locate any bears today. Instead, we enjoyed a great presentation by Caitlyn Webster on pinnipeds. Hopes are high for a polar bear sighting tomorrow.
