Today we visited the northern part of beautiful Santa Cruz Island. It was a clear and sunny day as we explored the inlands, on the lookout for wildlife. We hoped to find the dragons of the Galapagos, the Galapagos land iguana, and we spotted about a dozen. We were lucky to cross paths with American flamingos, marine iguanas, Galapagos flycatchers, Galapagos mockingbirds, and several species of Darwin’s finches. What a morning! After our hike, we enjoyed snorkeling along the coast in calm waters. We observed plenty of colorful and silvery fish.
In the afternoon, we went to Borrero Bay. Kayaking and paddleboarding were offered, and we explored the mangrove in Zodiacs. It was a treat to observe baby sharks, rays, and turtles. For the day’s finale, our hotel manager offered a sunset wine tasting as we circumnavigated Daphne Mayor Island.
