Visiting Santa Cruz Island today, guests got to see a more operational view of life in the Galapagos. In the morning we visited the Fausto Llerena Breeding Center. It was an unforgettable moment for those getting to see the (not-yet) giant tortoise infants, and learning in turn about the tremendous conservation efforts undertaken to protect the Galapagos Archipelago and its ecology. We afterward headed toward the highlands by bus. First, however, we stopped to survey a lava tunnel, an amazing geological formation to witness, and then visited a local farm known as “El Trapiche.” Santa Cruz offers the best opportunity to see the giant tortoises up front, in their own environment, and here we were: observing the gentle giants immediately before us.
The Galapagos Archipelago holds nothing back in keeping her visitors enchanted and eager to return!
