We landed on Isla Magdalena for walks amidst wind-sculpted sand dunes and along the beach where sand dollars, sea shells, and other treasures awaited discovery. After lunch the ship entered a narrow channel bordered by mangrove trees, and as we motored north, we encountered bottle-nose dolphins and the first gray whales of our voyage. A stroll ashore in late-afternoon light was a perfect finale of the day.
