Late last night we set sail, due south. Destination: Antarctica. With unsettled seas, guests, staff, and crew alike braved the weather. After a surprisingly good turn out for breakfast, and with a spritely demeanor amongst many, we were introduced to our field staff team and completed our final mandatory briefings.
It was a perfect day to acclimate to the ship and digest our first tidbits of knowledge. We had a talk about seabirds in the Southern Ocean, a biosecurity update from our expedition leader, and an intro to smartphone photography given by our certified photo instructor.
Winds were perfect for observing our feathery friends, who drafted off the vessel all day!
A perfect day of sailing; next stop is the white continent.
