Today we visited the western region of the Galapagos, where amazing wildlife encounters awaited. Sailing through the night, we arrived at the western coast of Isabela Island. Near Volcan Ecuador we spotted a massive pod of common dolphins. These beautiful marine mammals gave us quite a show! After breakfast, we navigated the waters of Punta Vicente Roca, exploring the amazing volcanic cliffs, and where we found Galapagos fur seals, penguins, flightless cormorants, Nazca and blue-footed boobies.
After the ride, we changed quickly into our snorkeling suits and came back to the same area, this time to explore its underwater diversity. We swam with penguins, sea lions, dozens of Pacific Green sea turtles, and thousands of colorful fish. For lunch we had some Mexican delicacies, followed later by presentations on oceanography and a visual storytelling activity for our young Global Explorers.
In the afternoon, we navigated towards Fernandina Island. Here we witnessed the largest colony of marine iguanas in the Galapagos. We had various alternatives to explore this island, and everyone shared the feeling of having experienced an unforgettable day of learning and adventure.
