Arriving at Playa Blanca at sunrise is spectacular, with the calm waters and tropical rainforest in the background making for a perfect opportunity for a picture. This day we will visit Costa Rican families who are making a difference by developing economical activities that are more sustainable.
One of the families we visited today live on land with a lot of gold, but they choose to protect their property and in order to make a living, they show tourists how to pan for gold. We also visited an artisan sugar mill, a heart of palm plantation, a cacao plantation, and an old cattle farm that was transformed into a natural reserve for wildlife.
To close the day, the scientist from Latin America Sea Turtle Association showed us the work they do, and we got to release a turtle back to the ocean.
