Petersburg greeted us with a bright sunny day and wonderful activities in and around the town. We visited the downtown shops, biked the loop around town, hiked up to Raven’s Roost, and explored the muskeg and temperate rainforest with the staff naturalists and locals.
On the Haa Aani hike through the Ohmer Creek watershed, we learned about the Tlingit use of plant resources like devils club as an anti-inflammatory agent and spruce sap as a natural glue for deep cut wounds. The crab fest in our dining room topped off the fantastic day we had, and the orca show in the setting sun’s light was an absolute cherry on top!
