This morning before breakfast we departed from Delfin II in our trusty skiffs to explore the remote Pacaya River, inside the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Our expert skiff drivers sped into the river under a clear and beautiful sunny sky. The weather was perfect, and the gentle wind caressed our faces while we enjoyed the breathtaking scenery.
The Pacaya River is well known for its dark, tannin-rich and mirror-like waters that contrast wonderfully with pristine forest and blue sky. The extremely keen eyes of our naturalists soon found many of the birds and monkeys doing their best to hide among the vegetation. Some of today’s great sightings included ferruginous pygmy owls, brown capuchin monkeys, and red-howler monkeys.
Later we stopped for a wonderful breakfast on our skiffs, and for a refreshing swim among inquisitive pink river dolphins. Another perfect day in the iconic Amazon River!
