A few of us were off the ship early for a photo walk where we explored some of the shorefront before heading for McCaig’s Tower. It was a time to enjoy the early morning quiet, have a chat, and take some photos. After breakfast, we set out on an extended walk along the shorefront. Our route took us to a war memorial and a lighthouse, through a woodland, and finally to a delightful garden where all manner of vegetables are cultivated.
Of course, there was some shopping time.
The ship then set sail for Corpach, our entry point into the Caledonian Canal. Before heading off on the afternoon excursions, we heard a presentation on Thomas Telford. A small group opted to kayak, and it turned out to be a wonderful paddle. Once past the choppy waters, the going was peaceful and a lot of fun. We even got to see the Harry Potter train pass by. The rest of the group headed for the Glenfinnan Monument and Viaduct to enjoy some afternoon walks. The spectacular viaduct is over 100 years old.
After dinner we were treated to a fantastic presentation by Alasdair Gibson, Head Gamekeeper at Glenfinnan Estate.
