Our two-week photo expedition aboard National Geographic Venture got off to a beautiful and equally memorable start. In pre-dawn darkness we rode Zodiacs ashore to capture the dramatic light of sunrise on sand dunes and shores of Isla Magdalena. Later in the morning we returned to walk over the expansive dunes, en route to the aptly named Sand Dollar Beach.
After leaving Bahia Magdalena, we kept a wildlife watch on the bow, where we sighted numerous species, including magnificent frigates and black-vented shearwaters, but also Pacific white-sided dolphins in the waters below. We also had wonderful views of elegant terns accompanying a large group of long-beaked common dolphins.
