Our expedition has been amazing so far. Today we had the opportunity to visit Urbina Bay and Tagus Cove, two different locations on Isabela Island. Urbina Bay is located on the western side of Alcedo Volcano. It is known for its unique wildlife and geological features. Our morning outing was incredible. We got to see the famous giant tortoises, marine iguanas, and a diversity of bird species. This bay also features a peculiar, uplifted coral reef that is the result of geological activity. The area provides a fascinating blend of terrestrial and marine life for explorers and nature enthusiasts. After our walk on the black sand beach, we had the chance to swim with penguins.
In the afternoon, National Geographic Endeavour II moved location to Tagus Cove, a popular destination for tourists due to its unique geological features and historical significance. We had the chance to explore the area with water activities, including snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The experience was full of mesmerizing moments. Later, we hiked along a trail that took us to the top of a scoria cone, providing us with incredible, stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including Darwin Lake. The cliffs of Tagus Cove are known for centuries-old graffiti left by sailors and explorers.
