The day started at Inverie, where a few took a dip in the sea along the pier, despite brisk winds and cool temperatures. Then we set sail, heading straight to our final berth for the week at the Kyle of Lochalsh, a small town at the base of the bridge to the Isle of Skye.
Eileen Donan Castle was our destination for the morning, a short bus ride from ship. After lunch we had the opportunity to take a bus to the Sleat Peninsula to visit the Clan Donald Centre, including the Armadale Castle and Botanical Gardens. This Highland estate is ancestral home to the Macdonald clan and has an excellent museum which depicts the clan’s history. There was also time for a bit of shopping alongside the ferry terminal.
Evening found us gathered for the guest slideshow, farewell toast, and dinner complete with Robbie Burn’s address to haggis. Traditional Scottish music capped off the day, a great ending to a great week.
