A "Mexican Totem Pole": a turkey vulture perched on a cardon cactus, at Isla San Jose in the Gulf of California, Mexico. This bird is cooling off, spreading his wings out. Quite an interesting display. Birds are just wonderful in this part of the world. Today we saw 35 different species of birds, including shore birds, sea birds and land birds.
