This afternoon we explored the underwater world along the cliffs with mask and snorkel. A barbecue dinner and bonfire on shore capped off a perfect day!

Today, unusually flat calm conditions enabled us to make a rare landing at Punta Colorada on Isla San Jos‚. Here, salmon-colored sandstone cliffs rise above a turquiose sea, creating a dramatic setting for a morning kayak outing exploring this intricate coastline. On shore, hikers discoverd the rocks to be chock full of fossils, including a great variety of marine shells and whale bones. These layers may date back to the initial opening of the Gulf of California over 10 million years ago.
