Jervis Inlet, June 18, 1792
Log entry, Captain George Vancouver: "...all our hopes...terminate, as others have done..."
Jervis Inlet
As the Sea Bird follows in the wake of Captain Vancouver's two long boats 209 years ago, one can't but share the hope and dread with which he must have approached each bend of the inlet. Would it end? Would it stretch on? Was this the Northwest Passage? - What a long and dreary journey back to the Discovery and the Chatham anchored 120 miles to the south.
We, however, the crew and passengers of the Sea Bird on this sunny Sunday tasted paradise in Princess Louisa Inlet. This glacial carved fjord of truly majestic and serene beauty is surely unequalled on earth.
