Isabela Island
We had a different experience today. We visited early in the morning the famous Post Office Bay, and in the Zodiac ride later we encountered some of the famous Galápagos penguins that are unusual on this side of the archipelago, but that from time to time (if you are lucky) you can find some. Late in the morning we had a great moment swimming and snorkeling with the sea lions, and some of our guests enjoyed watching blue-footed boobies diving! It was a unique experience in the water.
In the afternoon we started to sail to the nicest town in Galápagos; it lies on southern Isabela and is known as the port of Villamil. The town is a place were you can walk along the beach watching the blue-footed boobies fishing, enjoy the wind coming from the Pacific ocean, and end up on a concrete jetty where the kids from the island swim and have enjoyed the water since the day they were born.
We came back on board with the colorful light of sunset. One thing that really excites me is that tomorrow we will awake early in the morning to hopefully see the eruption of Fernandina Island. It is one of the most exciting things that can happen to a human being. To see the power of nature in this form, acknowledge how vulnerable we are, and admit to the supremacy of our mother earth.
