Floreana and Isabela Islands
When I jumped into the water this morning, I felt like the happiest person in the world. It was a perfect temperature, and visibility was outstanding as well; we could easily see thirty to forty feet down, and the colors of the fish and the underwater topography looked as if they had all been recently painted by nature. Our guests were delighted with the area, and no one wanted to leave the water. It was an amazing snorkeling experience. The glass bottom boat was spectacular too. Everyone had the chance to find big schools of fish, like these razor surgeon fish of the picture.
However, our Monday in the Galápagos was a pretty busy day. We started early, visiting a historical place, Post Office Bay. We had a couple of lectures while we navigated to Isabela Island and learned about the fish of Galápagos and about the mysteries of Floreana Island, an island rich in human episodes.
In the afternoon, we landed in a lovely fishing village, Puerto Villamil, where there is a raising center of Galápagos giant tortoises. We also went to a brackish lagoon close by to encounter more than a dozen of greater flamingoes. Our youngest guests had one more opportunity to swim in the afternoon, enjoying the waters of a perfect white organic beach. Dinner was waiting for us on board the Polaris. It was a fulfilling wonderful day!
