Santiago Island

We left the ship in the afternoon for our last walk, and our last snorkeling experience. But why the last? It is better to think that it is the first. Because it will actually be a new discovery, the enjoyment of a different and unique island, and most important of all, our adopted island.

So we land on a black beach, our first black beach in the week. We find a Galápagos at the top of the lava rocks of Santiago, and in the water we get some of our best sightings of marine turtles, and for the first time we spot marine iguanas underwater, grazing on algae.

The trail along the coastline of Santiago transforms us into little "Darwins." For many guests the very first octopus is found hidden in a tidal pool. Young sea lions open their eyes for the first time to life, and an American oystercatcher chases crabs among the guests, to their complete astonishment.

This is not a last, this is definitely a first. Therefore we don’t say good bye to our guests leaving the ship tomorrow, we say… see you soon friends!
