0ne of the wading birds found in the Galapagos islands is this graceful black and white lagoon bird. The black-necked stilt (Himantopus mexicanus) used to be considered strictly a migrant species, but now stilts nest in the archipelago. This resident species is often seen in brackish ponds and freshwater pools.
