Santa Cruz Island
Each and every one of us, visitors to the Galapagos and companies and people involved in tourism, should feel proud, should feel happy and should feel responsible for the great success of the Galapagos giant tortoise breeding program.
The Galapagos National Park Service, a governmental organization in charge of protecting the flora and fauna of the Encantadas, has made a great effort to preserve this archipelago as pristine as possible, restoring the species in danger, eradicating the problems. But their job hadn’t been at all possible without the support of the non-governmental Charles Darwin Station, responsible for research and education on the islands. However, it is in great deal thanks to each of the visitors to the Galapagos that the world is learning about the importance of this unique place, and that the world is giving back to preserve it.
The best way to lend a hand to protect and care for a wildlife park is by visiting it, knowing it, loving it, and teaching the others about it, becoming then an ambassador for conservation.
Everyone working on the Polaris, Lindblad Expeditions, feels proud of having showed the islands to many people, giving rise to more ambassadors to the Encantadas. Showing and teaching, with fun but with care, we help to build up an optimistic future for all the creatures of the Galapagos.
