Española Island

Punta Suarez on Española Island is the jewel of the crown of the Galápagos archipelago. The best way to finish a spectacular week and the most fabulous way to treasure our memories of the Galápagos until, one day soon, we can come back to explore these magnificent islands. Our welcoming committee on Punta Suarez was made up of red marine iguanas, sea lions, big lava lizards, blue-footed boobies and Nazca boobies.

This Island is home to the waved albatross, they arrive at the end of April to reinforce their bonds and lay their eggs. The waved albatross of the Galápagos stay out at sea during the very hot months to return only to Española, as it is their sole nesting place.

As we continued our walk, we found ourselves surrounded by hundreds of colorful Sally Lightfoot crabs and all sorts of other incredible creatures. Eventually we made our way to the broken cliffs to see where albatross jump off in order to start their long journeys out at sea.

Our hearts were filled with joy and inspiration at dusk when the sun went down as a farewell to our journey through these remarkable islands and all their natural treasures.
