Española Island
We have arrived at one of the most beautiful spots in the Galápagos; a place almost forgotten in time. This is Gardner Bay, where we have a beautiful white sandy beach filled with hundreds of sea lions. We were all ready to go to our snorkeling activity first and then to go and play with the sea lions at the beach. The first groups went out snorkeling and encountered a great amount of marine life: sea lions, king angelfish, moray eels and even a giant of the ocean: a manta ray! Everybody had an excellent time and to top it off, the sea lions put on a great performance on the beach.
During lunch we were well on our way to the next visiting site, Punta Suarez, on the western side of Hood Island. It was three o’ clock and we were all ready to start our last walk of the trip. As we disembarked, we had a few welcoming committees waiting for us: colourful marine iguanas, Galápagos sea lions, lava lizard, Nazca boobies and literally hundreds of nesting blue-footed boobies. We were so fortunate to see one couple nesting, not with one, but two chicks already! When we thought we had seen it all, we took a look at one of the most magnificent creatures that inhabit that Galápagos, the waved albatrosses. A lot of them were sitting in pairs, some of them were flying and a few more were starting to bond, moments that we will forever hold dear.
On the way back, we were able to watch a beautiful sunset, thus giving a perfect closure to our enchanting trip. Certainly a trip of a lifetime.
