Our last day exploring the Panama’s Pacific Coast began with a lovely sunrise. We cruised during the evening and arrived at Coiba National Park just before sunrise. National Geographic Quest anchored beside the gorgeous islet of Granito de Oro (“Little Grain of Gold”).

The kayaks and stand-up paddleboards were deployed and taken to shore. Our expedition station was promptly set up by staff as they awaited guest disembarkation after breakfast. Our first expedition activities involved snorkeling around the islet and surveying the coastal surroundings by kayak and paddleboards.

We return on board for lunch as we reposition National Geographic Quest close to the ranger station of the park. That afternoons activities were concentrated in the main Island of Coiba. Some of our guests went hiking in a trail while others enjoyed birding along the premises of the ranger station.

We all had great sightings of the park’s biodiversity. Since we needed to continue our journey, we return on board and weighed anchor for our next destination. Next stop: Costa Rica!
