We arrived alongside at the city of Cobb, home to one of our naturalists on the trip as well as several Lindblad employees. We felt the warm welcome of our local friends and headed out to explore Cobh. Cobh is incredibly important for its freshwater systems and for the size of its maritime port.
The morning was filled with tours of the Cultural Heritage Center or a trip to the Harper’s Island Wetlands Nature Reserve and Fota House and Gardens. Guests were enamored with the nature walks and observed many bird and plant species and enjoyed learning about Irish history.
After lunch we all headed to the Gaelic Athletic Association for a hurling demonstration by a local team, followed by live traditional Irish music.
We returned to the ship for oysters, cocktail hour, and dinner. Another wonderful day completed!
