Our first day exploring the wild side of Costa Rica began with a beautiful sunrise. A lush forest covered the coastline of Caletas Beach, our first destination to explore in the morning. On board National Geographic Quest, our guests enjoyed breakfast and readied themselves to go ashore.

Once on land, they divided in groups together with naturalist staff. Some went on horses to ride along the shoreline. Others hiked through a mature rain forest, while the rest enjoyed walks along the Caletas coast.

The morning report was loaded with great sightings of exotics birds and primates. Nature granted us a beautiful morning in the tropical rain forest. While having lunch aboard the ship, we repositioned for our afternoon destination of Corcovado National Park.

We all had a great time exploring this part of Costa Rica. One trail lead to a lovely waterfall, and those who did that hike had the opportunity to swim in a lovely watering hole. Others had a great time walking and birding in a more level trail.

At the end of the day, we gather in the lounge to share thoughts about our awesome day at Caletas and Corcovado National Park granted our group, to which we all replied with a big “PURA VIDA.”
