This morning, we took a beautiful drive into the interior of the island to visit the fascinating Nuraghe site of Su Nuraxi in Barumini, where we walked among the foundations of these ancient homes. Many guests climbed the narrow stairs and tunnel to enter the main tower and imagine how the various rooms may have been used in the seventeenth century BC.
After a relaxing lunch on the Lido Deck of the Sea Cloud, we made our way to the city of Cagliari. First, we visited the National Archaeological Museum, which houses pieces from the many cultures that have inhabited this island over the centuries. Then we had an opportunity to visit the marble-laden Cathedral of Santa Cecilia built by the Pisans in 1312.
Our afternoon continued with an informative stroll through the city, including multiple vista points that granted us spectacular views of the Sea Cloud in the harbor backed by a picturesque mountain range in the distance. Back on board, the ship set sail for the evening. What a treat to enjoy a delicious set dinner served on the lido deck while under sail!
