We woke to another beautiful, warm, and sunny day about 65 miles upriver from Astoria, Oregon. After a morning of cruising and transiting the Bonneville Lock, we anchored in Bonneville Lake above the dam near Stevenson, Washington.
We staged our afternoon activities of exploring the 2nd most visited site in Oregon, Multnomah Falls State Park. We split into two groups with about half of us going to the Bonneville Dam Hatchery, learning about salmon and sturgeon, and the other half going to Beacon Rock State Park. While there, everyone got to go on a hike up the 680’ high basaltic column as far as they were comfortable trekking.
We finished the day at the Columbia River Gorge Museum with wine tasting and charcuterie before heading back to the ship for dinner.
