The morning was warm and bright as we boarded a local sampan to cruise through the town of Sa Dec to the island of Binh Thanh. The shores were lined with rice factories, fish farms, water hyacinth, mango trees, and jackfruit as we approached the local village known for making reed mats. After wandering through the village lined with houses, we visited the local temple where we met and spoke with community members who survived the American war, sharing their stories with guests. On our return, we toured houses where they make reed mats using water hyacinth then boarded the sampan again to tour around the island before heading back to Jahan for lunch.
In the afternoon, guests received their final recap of the voyage followed by a disembarkation briefing while Jahan made its way to Cai Be. We visited a local shop making all sorts of products from rice and palm sugar, including rice paper and rice wine. Guests were able to sample and purchase rice products and other souvenirs for their journey home. Returning to Jahan, guests were treated to a farewell dinner followed by a slide show as the ship sailed into its final stop at My Tho.
