We were at sea today as National Geographic Resolution sails from Svalbard towards Jan Mayen. Sea days are often relaxing, with some time to reflect on the excitement of the past week. It was a week filled with amazing wildlife and scenery.
For the deck crew, a full day without operations is a full day of maintenance. Outboard motors need attention, oil changes, and minor repairs, etc. Up on the bridge, the captain meets with our ice pilot to review the latest ice charts and satellite images of east Greenland. There is a lot of ice between us and that coast. But there is always hope.
