Sorting through photos, recording journal entries, drawing, and staring out at the waves were popular activities today. We collect images to make our slide show for the evening. How to choose five favorites when there are so many? I could include five from each of our excursions in the Falklands and South Georgia. Of course, I will have to include a few king penguin shots.
As the afternoon progressed we reached the shelter of Staten Island and soon enough the entrance to the Beagle Channel. We successfully made it back, just as Shackleton’s men did 100 years ago. As did the first tourists to visit Antarctica with the Lindblad family 50 years ago. Granted, we had fresh vegetables, lattes, fine mixed drinks and beers, and delicious teatime. I think I prefer our journey!
Our final day of this incredible voyage found us retracing our steps from the Falklands back to Ushuaia. The wind and seas were a bit bumpy, but the constant stream of seabirds surrounding the ship was a nice distraction. A few dolphins and whales were spotted, but mostly today was a day of reflection on our trip and looking ahead to tomorrow in Ushuaia.
