Our day commenced with a visit to the mesmerizing Astoria Column, a towering monument perched atop Coxcomb Hill. As we ascended the spiral staircase that winds around the column, our anticipation grew. At the summit, we were greeted by panoramic views of the Columbia River, the Pacific Ocean, and the lush coastal landscape. It was an awe-inspiring start to our day, and we couldn't resist capturing the breathtaking scenery.
Next on our agenda was a journey into the past as we explored the Columbia River Maritime Museum. This remarkable institution offered a glimpse into Astoria's maritime heritage, complete with engaging exhibits and interactive displays. From the treacherous waters of the Columbia River Bar to the history of the fishing industry, we delved deep into the maritime world that has shaped this coastal town.
After a satisfying lunch, we ventured to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, an educational hub dedicated to the famous expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. The center provided a fascinating look into the challenges, discoveries, and adventures of the Corps of Discovery. Through informative exhibits and multimedia presentations, we gained a deeper appreciation for the courage and perseverance of these early explorers.
