Mauro Butron
Mauro was born in Mexico City in 1977. A self-learner, he moved to Baja California Sur in 2001, and became a volunteer at the Serpentario the same year. Mauro was certified as a State Guide in 2005 and worked as expedition leader in a local company, guiding tours to the mountain ranges and rural communities. He was certified as a NAI Interpretive guide and in 2008 started to support the LE ground operation in Baja California, such as planning the ground logistics and supporting bird watching expeditions in the San Jose Estuary. There he has been organizing workshops and cleaning campaigns to keep the site alive. In 2014 we founded Outdoor Baja Expeditions, focusing in working with local communities, Natural Parks and became active with local students, organizing fieldtrips, conferences, workshops and projects to bind the students with our Ranchers.
Mauro has been participating in Sea Turtle Protection programs since 2005, collecting nests, capturing turtles to tag them and monitoring human activity in nesting areas. In the past 10 years he has been participating as teacher with the Technological Institute of Los Cabos organizing field trips for several local schools.
