Hazel Pittwood
Hazel is from the South coast of England but spends very little time there! Her work in conservation began in land-based roles as a warden/ranger on nature reserves, both inland and on the coast in her home county of Dorset. Whilst she is broadly knowledgeable about the natural world, Hazel specializes in marine mammals and seabirds. In 2014 she began volunteering as a marine mammal and seabird surveyor, collecting sightings data regarding these animals for UK based conservation charities. She has been fascinated with these animals ever since.
Hazel started working as a wildlife guide/lecturer on cruise ships in 2017 travelling to a variety of locations worldwide, including Norway, Iceland, Alaska, Canada, the Faroe Islands, the Canary Islands, the Caribbean and Central America. Since 2020 she has been working on expedition cruises in the Arctic and Antarctica. In summer 2021 she worked in Cardigan Bay, Wales as a guide on small boat trips focused on seeing the area's coastal population of bottlenose dolphins.
Hazel loves nothing more than helping people to spot, identify and most importantly enjoy wildlife, combining her wealth of knowledge with great enthusiasm. She looks forward to sharing some fantastic animal encounters with you during your voyage!
