Alizé Carrère
National Geographic Explorer Alize Carrere is an award-winning filmmaker and doctoral candidate, whose research focuses on human adaptation to environmental change. After studying how farmers were responding to severe deforestation in Madagascar, her work evolved into a broader film project on human resilience in the face of profound environmental challenges. This culminated in a 4-part PBS docuseries titled Adaptation, which she both directed and hosted.
During this time, Alize also gained experience designing and leading expedition cruises around the world. These travels have given her a unique perspective on the human dimensions of climate change and the role of collaborative storytelling -insights which she shares as a speaker for National Geographic Live. Alize received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science from McGill University and is currently finishing her doctorate in Ecosystem Science and Policy at the University of Miami.
